3 Simple Rules to Keep Your Back Happy
Back pain is a common and often crippling problem that affects a vast majority of the population. Here are 3 simple rules to follow to help keep your back happy and minimise pain.
- Good sitting posture. Remembering to sit straight and keep your back in a good position can often be hard. By positioning your hips and feet in an optimal position you can create a good environment that does all the work for you. Simple tip- sit on a good chair where your hips are positioned higher than your knees
- Good standing posture. When on your feet, ensure that weight is evenly distributed between both feet. Any shifts in weight onto one leg destabilises the muscles in our pelvis that helps to support our spine.
- Keep moving. Don’t get stuck in one position for too long. Whether it be sitting or standing change your position at least every 45 minutes – 1 hour so as not to overload any muscle or joint too much.
These rules are a good start to maintaining good back health but if you have any ongoing problems please get into contact with us for an appointment to assess and treat your issue.
